Markus Niemela's axle breaks going into turn one at Perris Auto Speedway. Loud Pedal Productions posted the video after consulting with Niemela.
As you will see in the video, the roll cage collapses and Niemela is trapped in the car. Miraculously, he escaped with only a concussion. Niemela said if he hadn't been prepared with the proper safety equipment in case of a crash of this magnitude, he might not be here today. He credits the decision to purchase his custom-fitted ButlerBuilt seat with saving him from serious injury.
The Perris Auto Speedway safety team, one of the best in the world, took all the necessary precautions to ensure that Niemela was extricated safely. This crash is a testament to taking safety seriously, and we're hoping our sharing of this footage will help educate.
